WOS Formation Calculator — leaders in, joiners and widgets out
Stop memorising joiner tables and compute them: three leaders and a troop ratio in, slot saturation, widget firing, dead class-locked skills and ranked joiners out. 45 heroes built in.

The calculator is bilingual — Korean and English. It auto-detects your browser language, and the toggle at the top right switches at any time. Hero names, skill text, verdicts and every caveat are translated.
Pick three leaders and a troop ratio; it works out slot saturation, which widgets actually fire, which class-locked skills die, and how every joiner candidate ranks. Runs entirely in the browser.
Why build it
Memorising per-generation joiner tables is the wrong approach. The same joiner's contribution nearly doubles or halves depending on who is leading.
One Jessie* is worth this much, depending only on the leader trio:
| Leader trio | Slot A value | Jessie* multiplier |
|---|---|---|
| Jeronimo + Mia + Alonso | 1.90 | ×1.132 ← worst |
| Jeronimo + Reina + Greg | 1.48 | ×1.169 |
| Logan + Philly + Zinman | 1.00 | ×1.250 ← best |
Doing that by hand every time is tedious. So it is automated.
What it computes
| Section | What it does |
|---|---|
| ① Leaders | Expands all nine expedition skills of the three chosen heroes and labels which slot each one lands in |
| ② Slot audit | Sums each slot and shows saturation as a bar. Empty slots are highlighted separately — those are your first-choice joiners |
| ③ Widgets | Enter widget levels and it decides Rally vs Defender direction. Widgets pointing the wrong way are greyed out; duplicated stats raise a warning |
| ④ Class-locked | Flags skills that die at your current ratio as dead / weak / fine (Reina S3, Lynn S3, all three of Ahmose's, …) |
| ⑤ Joiner ranking | Computes each candidate's marginal multiplier and sorts. Heroes already leading are excluded automatically |
| ⑥ Counters | Enter the enemy's defensive ratio for a recommended counter and a banned-formation warning |
Verified against hand calculation
| Formation | Item | Calculator output |
|---|---|---|
| Jeronimo+Mia+Alonso 48/4/48 | widgets (lv 10/10/8) | Attack +30% × Lethality +12.5% = ×1.463 |
| Logan+Philly+Lynn 60/40/0 | defensive widgets (lv 10) | Defense × Health × Lethality = ×1.521 |
| Logan+Philly+Lynn 60/40/0 | sheet-listed joiners | Mia · Reina · Seo-yoon · Patrick |
That last row is effectively Ton's sheet answer (Mia · Patrick · Jessie* · Seo-yoon).
⚠️ The sheet wins
When the calculator and Ton's public sheet disagree, follow the sheet
The calculator is a model — probabilities linearised into expected values, periodic skills time-averaged, a normal-attack share assumed. The sheet is field data.
So the ranking carries sheet / theory badges. A "theory" hero ranking high usually means the investment threshold keeps them out of real rallies — they are legendary, so few players have them maxed, and whoever did max them is already using them as a leader and cannot free them up as a joiner.
The tool also prints a sheet-only shortlist separately. Use that one in the field.
Assumptions
| Item | Assumption |
|---|---|
| Expedition skill level | All Lv.5 (maxed at 4★ and above) |
| Proc / periodic skills | Converted to expected value (e.g. 100% every 4 turns → +25%) |
| Class-locked damage | Converted to a damage share with infantry weighted 0.3 — infantry are tanks and deal far less damage than their troop share suggests |
| Normal-attack-only | 80% of total damage assumed to be normal attacks (Reina's A′) |
| Widget level → % | Lv.2=5% · 4=7.5% · 6=10% · 8=12.5% · 10=15% |
| "chance to deal N% damage" | Filed in the same slot as "damage dealt increase" — whether they share an effect_op is unconfirmed, so they are summed conservatively |
That last one moves the result most. Mia's Lucky Charm, Alonso's Poison Harpoon and Philly's Dosage Boost all fall under it, and whether they count toward slot A swings Jessie*'s ranking considerably.
The data
45 heroes — 38 legendaries across Gen 1~13 plus 7 epic joiners. Each carries its three expedition skills (two for epics) and its exclusive weapon's expedition skill with the stat and the Rally/Defender direction.
💡 Found while collecting
- Epics have only two expedition skills and no exclusive weapon — exclusive gear is a legendary-and-above system.
- Patrick's S2 is Caloric Booster (Attack +25%). As a joiner only S1 counts, but it is worth knowing.
- Zinman's S3 is Positional Battler (Lethality +25%), and his widget is Defender Attack.
- Herbjorg is spelled Hervor in English sources.
