Whiteout Survival Treasure Hunter — Full Guide: Ultimate Treasure Picks, Pickaxe Income, and Spend Breakpoints
Lucky Hero Gear Chest is the top Ultimate Treasure (214%); click position is irrelevant, so auto-play is fine. Pity: 14 digs common, 22 Supreme. F2P ~90 pickaxes = floors 6-7; $410 full max = 45-50 Mithril.
A full breakdown of the Treasure Hunter event in Whiteout Survival, based on Ton's (TontonYouTube) recap video and cross-checked against the official wiki and Whiteout Data. Five days of digging through floors for milestone rewards — this covers which Ultimate Treasure to pick, how to farm pickaxes, and where each spending tier breaks even.
Bottom line — For 95% of players the Ultimate Treasure answer is the Lucky Hero Gear Chest (tied on value with Essence Stones, but this is the only bulk source in the game). Where you click makes zero difference, so auto-play costs you nothing. F2P caps at 90 pickaxes = floors 6–7 → clear floor 5, then bank the rest. For spenders, $55 (≈300%) is the sweet spot, $410 is the full max, and the $100 pack should be skipped.
🗺️ Event basics 5 days · irregular
| Item | Detail |
|---|---|
| Duration | 5 days (irregular event) |
| Frequency | Over the last 12 months: Jan / Apr / Aug / Oct = 4× a year (roughly quarterly). One extra run this year → possibly 5× a year (Ton's tracking · tentative) |
| How it works | Each floor has 25 tiles; find the Ultimate Treasure you selected to advance |
| Currency | Pickaxes — 1 tile = 1 pickaxe |
| Supreme Chamber | Every 5th floor (5·10·15·20…) is a Supreme Chamber with double rewards |
| Milestones | Based on floors cleared · caps at floor 100 |
| Switching rewards | You can change the Ultimate Treasure before it is found with no loss of progress |
💡 What the milestone track actually gives
Early milestones hand out pickaxes; later ones hand out Mithril. In other words the track pays you to keep digging, so efficiency improves the further up you go. Ton's spreadsheet and Torxim both count the milestone pickaxes when calculating the minimum spend for a target floor.
🎲 Odds and pity ★the most common misconception★
❌ Myths with no basis
- "Always click from the left" / "click the middle"
- "Manual picking beats auto"
- "I opened 100 chests and got zero mythics"
Ton: "Where you click has no impact on the outcome. Don't listen to people telling you otherwise."
✅ The real structure — weighted draw
- Ultimate Treasure = weight 2
- The other 24 tiles = weight 10 each → total 242
- Every dig removes a weight-10 tile → the remaining pool shrinks and your odds climb
Whichever tile you pick, the odds at that moment are identical. Auto-play loses you nothing.
Pity
| Chamber | Guarantee | What it feels like |
|---|---|---|
| Common | Guaranteed on the 14th dig | Even at 13/14 your odds are under 8% → most floors go to pity |
| Supreme | Guaranteed on the 22nd dig | Double rewards, correspondingly longer pity |
⚠️ "It'll drop soon" is wishful thinking
The odds ramp is shallow enough that hitting pity is common, not unlucky. Budget your pickaxes at 13–14 per common floor and 20–22 per Supreme Chamber.
💎 Which Ultimate Treasure to pick ★the one decision that matters★
| Option | Torxim value (Ton's account) | Verdict |
|---|---|---|
| Lucky Hero Gear Chest | 214% | ⭐ Top pick |
| Essence Stone | 214% | Tied · if ascension is your bottleneck |
| General Speedup | 200% | If you're pushing Experts |
| Charm Design | 182% | Debatable for F2P / low spend |
| Design Plan (Chief Gear) | 76% | Skip |
🎯 Why the Lucky Hero Gear Chest, when the value is tied
The percentages are effectively identical to Essence Stones, so Ton's preference comes down to scarcity.
- There is almost no other way to stack Lucky Hero Gear Chests cheaply and in bulk
- For that specific purpose this event is far and away the best in the game — Journey of Light has them too, but in much smaller quantities
- If you are serious about hero gear, this is effectively your only bulk supply
When a different pick is right
When Legendary ascension on hero gear is the wall blocking your enhancement progress. Value is tied with the chests.
When you're F2P / low spend and starved for T5–T6 Chief Gear and Charm materials. 182% isn't bad, but it's contested.
When the new Expert system is eating every speedup you own. 200% — squarely in the middle.
Quantities scale with state progression
| Progression | Common chamber | Supreme | Call |
|---|---|---|---|
| Low early account | 12 | 24 | Seriously consider banking this time |
| Mid | 24 | 48 | Normal participation |
| High Ton's account | 36 | 72 | Worth going deep |
※ Set your own state in Torxim first (gear icon, top right) or the quantities and value percentages shown will not match your account.
⛏️ Pickaxe income 4 daily missions
| Mission | Pickaxes | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Rally / hunt 1 Polar Terror | 5 | Joining an alliance rally counts |
| 5 alliance contributions | 5 | Easiest one |
| Raise troop power by 30,000 | 6 | A long training queue wipes this out for the day |
| Make 1 purchase | 10 | Any pack counts — a $1 widget pack works |
| F2P subtotal | 16 / day | Barely clears one common-chamber pity (14) |
| With any pack purchased | 26 / day | One cheap pack = +62% |
Five-day totals (milestone pickaxes included)
| Player | Total pickaxes | Floors reached |
|---|---|---|
| F2P (all dailies done) | ~90 | 6–7 depending on luck |
| Buying one pack per day | ~140 | Comfortably beyond that |
⚠️ Watch your training queue
A three-day training batch means you fail the "raise 30,000 troop power" mission and lose 5–6 pickaxes outright that day. Ton lost his this run. If you saw the event announced, keep training batches short so the mission completes daily.
🆓 Three F2P strategies what to do with 90 pickaxes
| Strategy | What it is | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| ① Run it out | Play every dig, reach floor 6–7, take the rewards and stop | You need the materials right now |
| ② Half-bank | Clear only to floor 5 for the milestone plus its bonus pickaxes, then bank the remaining ~24 | The default for most players |
| ③ Full bank | Don't dig at all; carry everything over and push floor 10 next time | Early accounts · when chests show only 12 |
🔁 Why banking works
Pickaxes carry over between events. With 4–5 runs a year, skipping one or two and hitting a higher milestone in one push can net more overall. This is especially true on an early account showing only 12 chests per floor — sitting one out is a defensible call.
❌ Reality check
Reaching the Mithril milestones as F2P is not realistically achievable — it would take years and would be inefficient anyway. Stop at the floor rewards.
💰 Value by spending tier Torxim · Ton's account
| Budget | Value | Comment |
|---|---|---|
| $10 – $25 | Looks enormous | Inflated because free pickaxes dominate the ratio — still solid in absolute terms |
| ~$55 | ≈300% | ⭐ Journey of Light-tier value. The low-spend sweet spot |
| ~$100 | Strong | The $100 mark is usually a good stopping point in cash events |
| $200 – $315 | Still high | Holds in the 200s — the "can I squeeze another $100" zone |
| $410 full max = floor 100 | ≈200–214% | 45–50 Mithril + 4,420 Lucky Hero Gear Chests |
| $2,000 including $100 packs | Falls off a cliff | Not recommended — skip the $100 pack |
The $410 full-max pack schedule (5 days)
| Pack | Days bought | Subtotal |
|---|---|---|
| $5 | 4 (one day skippable) | $20 |
| $10 | 4 (one day skippable) | $40 |
| $20 | 5 | $100 |
| $50 | 5 | $250 |
| Total | — | $410 |
Mithril cost per unit
Getting to your first 5 Mithril costs the most — early milestones are mostly pickaxes and filler.
That is more than the regular store (~$5). On Mithril alone, cheaper events exist.
That $8 also carries 4,400 chests plus every floor reward. That is where the 200%+ comes from.
📦 Lucky Hero Gear Chest expected value 1% + 100-chest pity
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Mythic chance per chest | 1% |
| Pity | Guaranteed 1 per 100 chests |
| Effective average | 1.54 per 100 chests |
| Full max (4,420 chests) | ≈68 mythic pieces |
📐 Reading the number
- Because the average is 1.54, batches of 100 tend to alternate between 1 and 2 depending on where you sit in the pity cycle (1-1-2-2, 1-2-1-2, and so on)
- Opening 100 chests and getting zero is structurally impossible — reports of that are misremembered
- At full max, bad luck still lands you in the low 60s; average or better clears 70
🎲 Ton's own pull — don't trust a sample of one
On camera he opened 100 chests and got 6 mythics — roughly 4× the average, and he said he'd never seen luck like it. The inverse error is just as common: one bad batch is not evidence the rates are rigged.
✅ Practical checklist
- Set your state in Torxim first and toggle the reward options to see your real value percentages. Quantities split 12/24/36, so skipping this step means judging on the wrong numbers.
- Default Ultimate Treasure: Lucky Hero Gear Chest (Essence Stones are tied — take those if ascension is your bottleneck).
- Use auto-play. Ignore the click-position myths.
- Complete all four daily missions — in particular, keep training queues short so the troop-power mission finishes every day.
- Buying any cheap pack adds 10 pickaxes from the purchase mission (a $1 widget pack qualifies).
- As F2P, treat "clear floor 5, then bank" as your default.
- If you're spending, lock your target first — $55 / $100 / $315 / $410. Raising it mid-event traps you in the low-efficiency stretch.
🔍 Unverified · tentative (WIP)
| Item | Status |
|---|---|
| Exact per-dig probability table | From Ton's spreadsheet (first dig ~0.4–0.8%) — not independently verified |
| Cutoffs for the 12 / 24 / 36 tiers | Assumed to track state progression · exact thresholds unknown |
| Anything past milestone 100 | Floor 100 appears to be the cap — needs re-checking |
| Whether 5× a year becomes standard | Tentative — the last 12 months were 4× (Jan/Apr/Aug/Oct) |
| Charm Design vs Essence Stone priority | Contested for F2P and low spenders |
