Hero Ascension Training — the best recurring $10 in Whiteout Survival
If you were spending the new generation's hero shards anyway, this event's $10 paid track is the best $10 in the game. Shard costs, milestone tiers, the packs to skip, and the $20-per-generation budget.
Bottom line — if you were going to spend the new generation's hero shards anyway, this event's $10 paid track is the best $10 in the game. Two heroes at 5 stars (2,150 shards) already pays for itself several times over, and three maxed heroes (3,225 shards) feels like $100–300 worth of value. But do not buy the hero shard packs inside the event to push your milestone — their value is unremarkable.
How the event works
A generation-linked mini event. It opens together with each new legendary generation, and you earn points every time you spend shards to ascend that generation's heroes.
Rewards are tiered milestones split into two rows: a free track and a paid track (Battle Stars, $10).
Current generation only — ascending an older generation's heroes earns nothing.
🔁 Two events per generation cycle Ascension Training → Exclusive Gear 30 days later
Points from hero shards · paid track Battle Stars $10
Points from developing widgets (exclusive gear) · paid track Champion Forge $10
Because the feature is launching right now, accounts already past day 30 of a generation may see both events at once. Going forward they rotate one at a time in the order above. Ton notes the same event arrived in Kingshot about a month and a half ago and ran for every generation — but whether early generations (Gen 1–3) get it too is unconfirmed.
📊 Shard costs per mythic hero · cross-checked
| Step | Shards | Cumulative |
|---|---|---|
| Recruit (unlock) | 10 | 10 |
| 1★ | 10 | 20 |
| 2★ | 40 | 60 |
| 3★ | 115 | 175 |
| 4★ | 300 | 475 |
| 5★ (max) | 600 | 1,075 |
→ One hero maxed = 1,075 · all three heroes of a generation maxed = 3,225 (matches Ton's number) · 4 stars 475 (the realistic F2P line)
🎯 Milestone table Ton's video · read off a Gen 12 screen
| What you achieve | Shards | Tier reached | Cumulative gems (approx.) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2 heroes at 4★ realistic F2P | 950 | Tier 8 | ~15,000–16,400 |
| 1 hero maxed | 1,075 | Tier 9 | — |
| 2 heroes maxed light spender target | 2,150 | Tier 12 | — |
| 3 heroes maxed everything unlocked | 3,225 | Tier 14 | ~50,000 |
To open every reward you effectively need two heroes maxed, one at 4 stars, plus leftover shards. The gem figures were read off a Gen 12 screen, so reward size may differ by generation and Fire Crystal age.
💵 The $10 paid track — value check
Ton: "the best $10 you can ever spend in the game"
· At three maxed heroes it contains whole stacks of Chief Gear materials / Chief Charm materials, which he estimates at $100–300 of value.
· The sister event (Exclusive Gear Forge) has an almost identical pack — one gives Chief Gear materials, the other Chief Charm materials.
· Even at two heroes at 5★ (Tier 12) it is comfortably worth it, and even Tier 8 (two heroes at 4★) already justifies the $10.
For comparison: the Treasure Journey pack ($20, listed at 10,000% on Torxim) is nowhere close.
⚠️ Check the real percentage on Torxim once it is listed. The above is Ton's eyeball comparison.
🚫 What not to buy the hero shard packs inside the event
The shard packs are only average value
· The event screen also sells hero shards directly. Pricing is "not bad, but not cheap either" — ordinary.
· The sister event's widget packs are extremely cheap; the shard packs are not.
· Reference point: the Legend Transcendent pop-up pack on hero unlock = 15 shards / $5.
Buying shards here just to climb a milestone tier is inefficient. Skip it unless you are a whale.
🧭 Strategy by spending level

Get two heroes to 4 stars per generation → Tier 8 ≈ 15,000 gems. That alone is a clear win
Once the Lucky Wheel is running, two maxed heroes per generation becomes realistic
Active = 2 per generation / average = 2 in two of every three generations / low activity = 2 per three generations
Light spender — the "$20 per generation" budget
⭐ The plan Ton pushes hardest
① Bank shards to get at least two heroes to 5 stars each generation
② Buy the Hero Ascension Training $10 pack
③ Thirty days later, buy the Exclusive Gear Forge $10 pack
④ Buy nothing else
→ $20 per generation, 4–5 generations a year = $80–100 a year. Your budget is fully fixed and you buy only the two highest-efficiency slots in the game.
The video also mentions a $20 pack that throws in 20 Lucky Wheel hero shards (with Google Play points on top), but the pack name may be a transcript error and is unconfirmed.
Whale
Three maxed heroes → Tier 14 ≈ 50,000 gems plus every reward, repeated every generation. The shard packs are still not recommended — filling up via the Lucky Wheel and regular income is cheaper.
🔍 Needs confirmation (unverified)
The big one — is it retroactive?
Ton says "if your heroes are already maxed when the event starts, you get all the rewards", but the official notice reads "earn event points by ascending the corresponding heroes during the event".
→ Most likely only ascensions made during the event count. Hold your shards and spend them after the event opens.
unconfirmed Localised names — Hero Ascension Training / Exclusive Gear Forge / Battle Stars are all quoted from the English client.
range Milestone gems and reward size come from a Gen 12 screen. Lower generations and lower Fire Crystal ages may differ.
unconfirmed Whether early generations (Gen 1–3) get the event — we only have the Kingshot precedent.
